Harwich Redoubt Fort Essex Ghost Hunt

This wonderful Napoleonic fort built in 1808 was designed to protect the port of Harwich from invasion. It is believed that French prisoner of wars were made to help with the construction of the fort. During WW2 redoubt was used as a detention centre for British troops awaiting trial. Examples of graffiti left by the soldiers can be found in the cells still. 

The fort was left abandoned until 1969 when the locals helped with the heavy task of restoring this ancient monument - and what a job they have done! Open now as a museum, this amazingly restored fort really gives you a feel of what life would have been like here many, many years ago.

There are many reports of hauntings and paranormal happenings here, including a headless apparition said to roam the fort and a spirit of a 13 year old girl who was reportedly killed in the moat surrending it.

We can definitely agree the atmosphere here is very intense! We are really looking forward to being with out guests here overnight to investigate our own findings!
