Royal Gunpowder Mills Essex Ghost Hunt

With over 300 years of history in making gunpowder set in 170 acres of land, the royal gunpowder mills is one of our biggest venues. There were mass fatalities here, many caused by the huge explosion of one of the incorporating mills in the 1700's, The explosion was so loud it was heard throughout Waltham Abbey.

The ghost of Mrs. Walton has reportedly been on seen on several occasions walking through her house which is now the on site admin building. Staff here have reported odd noises whilst walking through the different buildings and a general eerie feeling. Deaths that occurred here are documented and available at the local parish and in archives at the mill. Over 3000 women worked here at one time in the powder mills in very dangerous conditions, playing crucial roles during the war. 

We have access to five of the huge buildings here at the mill, including the 1940s's exhibit which was once the boiler room, incorporating the mill, spinks gallery and the museum/laboratory. The atmosphere here is quite intense, even during the day. In particular the spinks gallery where the women worked. Our first investigation here gave us a range of activity experienced by our guests - we cannot wait to return.
